Happy New Year!
Let's say goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022 in style. How about we watch the ball drop somewhere? Let's plan an adventurous night out and see where it leads.....
 
Pick a level and begin reading on December 15th!
 
Level 1- 8 books- I will probably watch the ball drop on tv
Level 2- 16 books- I may watch the festivities if they are nearby
Level 3- 24 books- I plan to travel to ring in the new year
Level 4- 32 books- I am traveling and bringing along an entourage!
Bonus- Please feel free to continue making New Year's Eve plans by repeating tasks and making new combinations- enjoy!
 
Hello 2022 Quarterly Tasks -
 
Please choose one task from each of the eight categories to complete one level (one ball-dropping event). There are enough tasks to complete 4 levels (4 events) If you are more adventurous, feel free to repeat tasks and create more adventures!
 
🍾1. Where will you watch the ball (or other object) drop?
 
*a. New York City, NY- Each year, millions of eyes from all over the world are focused on the sparkling Waterford Crystal Times Square New Year's Eve Ball- Read a book set in NY or a book with eye(s) on the cover
*b. St. George’s, Bermuda- a giant papier-mâché Bermuda onion is dropped in front of town hall- Read a book with food in the story or on the cover or a book set in the food industry or a book with something round on the cover
*c. Honolulu, Hawaii- Hawaii takes a flavorful twist on the New Years Eve ball drop by raising a "Hala Kahiki", or Pineapple, up into the air- Read a book with a tropical setting or a book with the color yellow on the cover
*d. Memphis, Tennessee- The Hard Rock Cafe on Beale Street rings in the New Year in Memphis with its annual guitar drop- Read a book with a musician or singer in the story or a book that you think will make your 'heart sing'
 
🍾2. Who will be going with you?
 
*a. I would like to go alone (maybe meet new people?)- Read a stand-alone story or a book with one person on the cover
*b. I am going to take my significant other- Read a book with the number 2 in the publishing date, page count or series number or has a two-word title
*c. I am thinking of asking someone I have had a crush on/I'm interested in to join me- Read a friends to lovers story or a book with a character you could have a crush on (book boyfriend)
*d. I am taking my family with me- Read a book with a family in the story or a book in a longer series (more than 3 books published so far)
 
🍾3. How will you get there?
 
*a. I live far away so I will be taking an airplane- Read a book with travel in the story or a book with clouds or birds or a plane on the cover
*b. Luckily I don't live too far away so a car or train works- Read a road trip story or a book set in a country you do not live or a book with wheels or a road on the cover.
*c. I am so close I can walk!- Read a book set in the country you live or a book with feet or shoes on the cover
*d. I'm having second thoughts about the crowds, I may watch it on t.v.!- Read a story with a character who works with electronics of any kind (ie. camera, microphone, tv, computer, electric guitar) or a book with no people on the cover
 
🍾4. What will you wear?
 
*a. warm weather clothes- Read a book set in a warm month or climate or a book with the colors red, yellow, or orange on the cover
*b. cold weather clothes- Read a book set in a cold month or climate or a book with the colors white, silver, or gray on the cover
*c. lots of layers- Read a story with a complex character or a longer book
*d. definitely those funny year glasses and a top hat!- Read a humorous story or a book with a funny character or a book with clothes on the cover
 
🍾5. Where (and what) would you like to eat before the festivities?
 
*a. in a park or on the beach sounds nice- Read a story with a laid-back character or a book with the colors green or blue on the cover
*b. definitely in a restaurant for me- Read a story you have been waiting to read (maybe it was on reserve) or a book with a busy looking cover
*c. I will bring snacks in my bag and get to my destination early- Read a recently published book (within the last year) or an insta-love story
*d. a food truck or stand so I can grab and go sounds good- Read a story with a character who is always on the go (ie. firefighter, police officer, parent, barista) or a book you borrow from the library (online or in-person)
 
🍾6. How will you watch the ball (or object) drop?
 
*a. I'm bringing chairs!- Read a book where one of the words in the title or author's name begins with either of the following letters- C,H,A,I,R.
*b. I hope to get a good spot to stand on the sidewalk- Read a book that is on any kind of best of/bestseller list or has won any award or a book with gold on the cover
*c. I like to stand towards the back so I don't feel squished- Read a story that has been on your tbr for a while or a book you own and don't have to give back
*d. I just might watch from a rooftop nearby- Read a story that is at the top of your list of books to get to or a book with a daring or brave character
 
🍾7. Are you going to celebrate somewhere afterward?
 
*a. Yes! I will ring in the new year at a nightclub or bar- Read a story with an exciting character or a book with jewelry on the cover
*b. Yes! A small, quiet spot for a late dessert sounds nice- Read a shorter book or a sweet story
*c. Yes! Maybe a midnight swim- Read a mystery or a book with a mysterious character or a book with water on the cover
*d. No! I will be too tired, I will celebrate putting my head on my pillow- Read a story you would like to snuggle up with in bed or a book with a dark cover
 
🍾8. Do you make resolutions for the new year?
 
*a. Yes, I hope to be able to be more active- Read a sports romance or a book with a character who is active or fit
*b. Yes, I hope to get more work done and be more productive - Read a book with a character who works in an office or a book you would listen to while cleaning
*c. Yes, I hope to fix things around the house that need attention- Read a story with a blue-collar worker or a book with a character who is good with their hands ;)
*d. No, I am more spontaneous and I like to see what happens- Read a book that you randomly chose from your tbr or a list or a book that has a new to you author
